Do you realize how pathetic that sounds? How can a person improve their reading skills if they never practice? Reading something besides text messages might just improve a person’s writing abilities. :-)

Not sure but in 1595 it was performed in the Globe Theater. Globalists were only getting established at the time.

I didn’t know she was a character in a Shakespeare play.

Comment on ‘A Plague On Both Your Houses’, Meaning & Context by Kevin https://nosweatshakespeare.com/quotes/famous/a-plague-both-your-houses/comment-page-1/#comment-3006833 Sat, 03 Feb 2024 03:48:10 +0000 https://nosweatshakespeare.com/?page_id=1030854#comment-3006833 I fully understand that this is a literary website, but… “so many people die that the virus or bacteria can’t duplicate” is an atrociously incorrect definition of herd immunity. Of course, this error is why it’s no surprise that it explains nothing about how/why herd immunity develops even with mild, largely nonlethal viruses/bacteria, and where the fatality rate is near zero. Herd immunity has nothing to do with lethality, and proceeds irrespective of how many die of the illness.

ps. please do not share my email info online.

Comment on ‘Shuffle Off This Mortal Coil’ Meaning by Liberty Miller https://nosweatshakespeare.com/quotes/famous/mortal-coil/comment-page-2/#comment-3006645 Tue, 30 Jan 2024 10:12:53 +0000 https://nosweatshakespeare.com/?page_id=1019844#comment-3006645 A rephrasing of the author’s point:
A coil is also a thing that wraps around and encompases– a snake coils around its prey. “To shuffle off” also brings to mind a snake shuffling off its old skin. Could ‘shuffling off a mortal coil’ allude to shedding one’s old ‘skin’ for a new ‘skin’?
(“And snakes moult and shuffle themselves out of their old skin to emerge as something brand new, and they then go ahead with a new existence.”)

you could have easily said “I find it strange how cocky your absurd and out-of-place comment is. What a total moron you are.” and it actually sounds much more natural

Comment on A Midsummer Night’s Dream Summary by Ranya https://nosweatshakespeare.com/play-summary-2/midsummer-nights-dream/comment-page-6/#comment-3006435 Thu, 25 Jan 2024 01:32:55 +0000 http://nss.andymarciniak.com/play-summary/midsummer-nights-dream/#comment-3006435 Honestly, it’s a bit confusing. It doesn’t give us a clear reason why the characters do the things they do. Puck puts the juice on their eyes and it doesn’t give a reason. I’m not sure if this is due to the way Shakespeare wrote it, or you if you’re trying to make it short. I understand why because people are in a rush, but it would one hundred percent make it less confusing.
