The word violent here is not meant to convey our traditional view of violence. Like many words in Shakespearean English they have double meanings or are meant as an analogy. Violent is meant here to mean speed of reaction. So, like the flame and powder used in his own description, once the two meet it triggers an immediate and violent reaction. Just as Romeo and Juliet’s meeting sparks a violent reaction that ends in youthful double suicide.

I appreciate your comment on Juliets age… my question to you is how do you know that, and if its true, what difference does that make in regards to it being the 15th, 16th century where people married that early because of the immortality rates?

It is only that way because their “world” is warped though. Nothing they are doing should have even a hint of violence about it! Loving and lusting isn’t wrong! It is everyone else that is wrong!
