Oh! Dear.
I thought this very helpful for anyone seeking a quick resumé or wishing to confirm their understanding. The writer should be praised for her/his clear explanation as well as the selfless generosity of the effort.
So thank you!
Concerning the missing ‘analysis’ I would have thought such would be a matter of personal musing – particularly with a seemingly straightforward message. Or is it more enigmatic? Or ‘generalisable’?
The state of humanity; the body politic; the Man and his greedy machinations; morality and concern for others…the environment, of course, the food chain and our treatment of Nature (ironically!) And so on and on – these examples but a few facets of a multiple coruscation.

Nature versus (and firmly outside of) the ordered Farce of mankind’s pride and ‘Order’.

I imagine several lengthy tomes could be written on the subject! (which wouldn’t really fit here would it?)

In reply to Pam. I actually hated the translation. It was very poorly done. It wasn't translated properly. Edmond was not referring to himself in the third person, yet this is in the third person. The translation is a reiteration, and is sub-par. Definitely had the ability to be much better.

I liked the “translation” very much. While I got the idea from the original, sort of, the modern English confirmed and deepened my understanding and made me delighted.
